Greeting the New Year With Hope!

The three most important words that most of us have heard from our early experiences in church or school were faith, hope and love. Isn’t it interesting that faith and love are in the present tense and can be felt and experienced by others, as well as yourself, in the moment.

Webster defines faith as “a strong belief or trust in someone or something;” and love as “a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.”‎

Hope, however, does not typically generate as strong an emotional response as either of these words because it does not create an emotional experience today. It is a feeling or a mindful wish for tomorrow or some point in the future. That point in the future is most likely a goal or vision we have set for an outcome that we desire.

So what is hope?

Wikipedia says that hope is: “an optimistic attitude of mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances.” Hope, therefore, is the internal wish or, as some would say, a prayer for something to occur.

We, as a country, hope for peace and the end of wars. We, as a family, hope for unconditional love and support. We, as individuals, are always hoping for a better life filled with the qualities of health, joy, and prosperity.

In a physical world that is filled with crime, poverty, war, and disease, it is easy to get caught up in the fear of what we see and to lose hope for a better world.  Let us never underestimate the power of hope. Hope gives us the ability to endure hardships while working toward a positive outcome. When we have hope, we can experience all the difficulties that life has thrown in our way, and we can climb out of the depths of despair to achieve our goals and to realize our dreams.

As we look forward to a successful and pleasant 2015, it is important that we continue to remember that our hopes and dreams are the inspirational fuel that ignites our passion to create a physical world that reflects our eternal connection with Universal Love.  When we have hope, we persist in focusing on the light even in the darkness, and anything is possible.  In the words of Samuel Smiles, “Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us”.

May this year be your best year ever!

Love and Light,

Sandra

How Can We Create A Physical World of Unconditional Love?

This is an image of a blue cloudy ski with the word VISION spelled out in the clouds

© phloxii/shutterstock.com

We came to this magnificent earth to experience our true spiritual nature by using our creative energy to manifest unconditional love into physical form. As we each become whole within ourselves, we have the strength to remember our connection with each other, and we experience Oneness.

Oneness is our spiritual connection with everyone and everything through the energy of universal love. The qualities of Oneness are love, health, peace, joy, and abundance. Because we are each created in the energy of unconditional love, it is divine will that we experience the qualities of Oneness in our lives.

Each of us has the awesome ability to consciously and actively participate in the co-creation of a kinder, more enlightened world through the practice of vision prayers. Visions are mental pictures, inspired by the soul, clarifying what we want to experience in our lives. Prayer is the energetic bridge that links our visions to universal spirit. When our vision prayers coincide with universal truth, absolutely everything and anything is possible because we are living in concert with the laws of nature.

When I completed the book, “The Power of Oneness, Live the Life You Choose,” I was spiritually guided with the words for A Vision of Oneness. Because this prayer is based on the spiritual truth of our unity, it resonates at an extremely high frequency and has the creative potential to manifest quickly and in ways that far transcend our human understanding.

The following is an explanation of why each word is so powerful:

I AM at one with The Source of Light and Ultimate Expression of Universal Love.

We instantly elevate our vibration by beginning our prayers with I AM, the most powerful two words known to man because they are the essence of ultimate creative energy. We are affirming our direct and personal connection with the unified field of love and intelligence and are embracing our power to co-create with Creative Source.

I AM an open, active channel receiving and expressing unconditional love.

When we align the will of our minds and the actions of our bodies to coincide with divine will, we are exalting our minds and bodies to resonate with the infinitely higher vibration of Spirit, which clears the path for the energy of universal love to flow to and from us.

I AM thankful for all that is.

The resonance of gratitude also raises our vibration and increases our capacity to receive. We can certainly express our thanks for specific things; however, when we are also thankful for everything that exists, we honor the divinity in every person we meet, every challenge we encounter, and every situation we experience, whether it has been pleasant or not. When we do this, we broaden our perceptions to accommodate an even greater flow of blessings because we recognize the blessings in all that we see and experience.

I see myself joyfully experiencing peace within, health at all levels of my being, and abundance in all forms that are in my greatest good.

We connect our visions with the universal field of unconditional love and infinite potential by declaring what we want to experience in our lives as though it is already in existence. We can see it with our mind’s eye and declare it through words. What matters most is that we affirm the qualities of life we truly want to experience and feel it within our hearts as though it has already been accomplished.

I see my personal healing contributing to a World of Unconditional Love, Harmony, Wholeness, Abundance, and Joy.

Each one of us affects all of us. As we heal our own individual lives, we can honor our personal responsibility to contribute to a world in which we can all experience the qualities of Oneness by expanding our personal visions to a larger world view.

I surrender this vision to the unconditional love of the Universe.

Between our physical reality and our visions of new possibilities is a space in which we need to surrender our personal will. When we surrender, we let go of our ego’s need to control the outcomes, and we place the masterminding of how our prayers are answered into the hands of universal intelligence. When we surrender a prayer to the love of the universe, we are acknowledging the infinite wisdom of Spirit to provide resolutions that far surpass our grandest human plans because they are answered in ways that are for the good of the whole.

I know this prayer is being answered in ways that are for the greatest good of all.

This is the faith part of our prayer and the point at which our limiting belief systems many times start to creep in. We often question the power of our human spirit to create with divine energy. Pure faith transcends believing or understanding – it is KNOWING that our prayers are always answered, even if we cannot see it with our physical eyes. When we expect positive outcomes, we are acknowledging that our prayer has been heard and is accomplished according to divine will. Interestingly, the word “expect” is derived from the Latin words ex (from) and pector (heart). It is the nature of the Universe to work in concert with the desires of the heart.

Amen.

This is the part of the prayer where we release our intentions to the Universe. The sound of “Amen” is extremely significant: “Aaah” is the sound of creation and breath, and “om” is the sound of manifestation (bringing energy into physical form). Saying this prayer at least once a day has phenomenal potential to heal your life and to bless the world. Since our thoughts create our reality, one can only imagine the infinite transformational energy that can be generated by the majority of our world population uniting with each other in this vision prayer for global spiritual healing! We have the power to bring heaven to earth!

Are You Paying Attention to the Miracles Around You?

This is the image of two Doves flying in a beautiful blue sky

© Tischenko Irina/shutterstock.com

We live in a world in which we have become addicted to stimulation.  It seems that no matter where we go, our five senses are bombarded in environments that are too loud, too bright, too fast, and too aggressive.  Not surprisingly, this overexposure to external stimulation is causing us to become desensitized to the miracles of nature that are all around us.

I am sometimes overwhelmed by the abundance of gifts the earth graciously and unconditionally provides for us with no effort on our part.  The air we breathe, the water we drink, the plants we eat, and the earth beneath our feet are but a few of the phenomenal gifts we tend to take for granted.

When we slow down, take a deep breath, and stop reacting to the external commotion, we stop “looking for miracles” and begin to notice that there are miracles all around us.  Whether we are paying attention or not, Nature lovingly and generously reveals her innate wisdom to us regarding every aspect of life.

Three spring seasons ago, I put a statue of a dove, with the words “peace” inscribed in it, out on my bedroom terrace. I had just moved from a large house and was concerned that, now living on the 14th floor of a high rise, I would no longer be able to enjoy listening to the bird songs that I dearly love.  Since I believe we can communicate with animals, I placed a potted plant on the terrace and sent out a telepathic invitation to the doves to visit us.

Within two weeks, two doves showed up and built a nest within the plant I had placed for them on the terrace. They have continued to return several times a year, every year since.  Because I’ve earned their trust, they allow me to get within 1″ of their nest, talk with them, and water the plant. They have blessed me with a front row seat to witness their amazing procreation process, beginning with their mating (they mate for life).

What follows their mating process is an extraordinary dance of nature where the male and female work in total concert.  They work together in building the nest, laying of the two eggs (she lays the eggs while he protects her), and sharing the responsibilities of alternately scouting for food while the other one sits on the nest.  It does not matter how cold and windy it may be, they remain unswervingly committed to protecting the eggs until they are hatched.  For weeks after that, they take turns protecting the nest and bringing food back and forth.  When the chicks are old enough, the male and female patiently demonstrate to the babies how to fly from the nest, down three feet to the terrace floor, and back to the nest. After a few weeks, they both leave the babies alone for hours at a time and come back several times a day to feed them and check on them. Within a few weeks, the babies are on their own! They don’t get kicked out of the nest, nor are they abandoned – they are given all that they need to begin discovering the world on their own and then set free to experience life. What is really amazing is that after the babies leave the nest, the parents return one more time, sit on the terrace rail, and coo together for hours. I know they are thanking us.

So why am I going on and on with my dove story?

I am reminded of so many lessons in life as I observe these beautiful creatures: The extraordinary things that can be accomplished when working together; the integration of male and female energy; the power of the number “2,” (representing love); their relentless dedication to their life purpose; the demonstration to the babies of how to survive; their uncanny wisdom in knowing when to free the babies to explore life on their own; the innate ability of animals to communicate with each other, and, even more amazing, the ability of the animal species to communicate with us humans.

I recently looked up the meaning of the dove totem. Although they are best known for their symbology of peace, they are also representative of gracefully moving through the veil between the material world and the metaphysical world of Spirit. How perfect!

So here we are again – back to Oneness!  Like the doves, we have the ability to work together in peace and harmony, to lovingly support each other, to bravely fly from the comfort of our “nests” into the unknown, and to move through the veil of our present physical world into the spiritual reality of unconditional love and Oneness.

All of these miraculous lessons are so beautifully and simply taught by the mere presence of two doves!

The Light Is Within You

This is the image of a human with all their inner light shining through in vibrant colors

© styleuneed.de/shutterstock

As we evolve in our spiritual journey, we are increasingly hearing more and more about Divine Light.  The mere mention of the word light reminds us of many pleasant feelings, such as: radiant, bright, warm, delightful, floating, effortless, uplifting and clear.  We seem to intuitively know that light is synonymous with our truth, as is evident in expressions such as, “It wasn’t clear to me at first, but I finally saw the light.”

But what about darkness?  Most of us associate darkness with the negative side of life – such as: pain, fear, obscurity, depression, poverty, and sickness.  At a soul level, none of us enjoys experiencing the “dark side of life” –  and yet, here we are, living in a world in which we are personally and collectively experiencing sickness, violence, greed, crime, and poverty.  What is the meaning of all this darkness?

From a spiritual perspective, unconditional love is all that is real; therefore darkness is simply the absence of love.  We came to this physical world to remember our True Self through the experience of separation from our creative source. The greatest divine gift we have been given in this dynamic physical world of polarities is the power to choose our perceptions.  Since light (perceptions of love) and darkness (perceptions of fear) are  ultimate opposites, we can only remember the light through the contrast of darkness.

Many times our greatest growth periods come through the experience of the pain of separation.  Those of us who have experienced “dark times” in life through tremendously challenging situations such as serious illness and mental, emotional, and physical trauma know the opportunities within these situations to gain enormous wisdom and insight about life.

Indeed, there are lessons within our lives that may be much more apparent in the darkness of our despair because we can focus more intensely when there are fewer things to see.  It is like walking into a dark room—at first we can see nothing, yet after our eyes have had a chance to refocus, we begin to clearly see particular items even though the room is still dark.  Likewise, we can have some very profound insights about areas of our lives that need improvement while we are quietly lying in bed recovering from illness and surgery, during  the inactive times that may come with being unemployed, or by feeling disoriented in an entirely new environment.

Painful experiences also remind us how to be compassionate and non-judgmental toward others.  We can theorize about how it might feel to have a life-threatening illness, deal with a drug addiction, go through a divorce, lose a job, or have serious money problems; but it is the actual experience of living through these types of experiences that opens our hearts to express tenderness and total compassion to others who are wrestling with their own challenges in life.

We are all experiencing different dramatic versions of the pain of separation in our lives as we awaken to our true spiritual nature.  Be gentle and compassionate with yourself – resisting the areas of your life that are challenging your soul is like fighting with your own shadow.  The most effective way we can move through the darkness is to simply accept that our challenges are all a part of a masterful universal plan to remind us of our wholeness and our power to return to the Oneness of unconditional love.

As we awaken to this truth, we also begin to remember that the Light we are seeking cannot be found outside of ourselves through our material world.  THE LIGHT WE SEEK IS WITHIN – IT IS SHINING TO US AND THROUGH US.  Rather than react to the fear that appears as darkness, it is our spiritual mission to bring divine light to everyone and everything  through our mere presence.

Pure light includes the full spectrum of every color known and unknown to us.  When pure light passes through a prism, the prism refracts the incoming light wave into many other different wave lengths. When we perceive humanity in the metaphorical sense of being one gigantic prism, we see that collectively we form a beautiful rainbow coming from one source of divine light.  As we focus on the light within ourselves and all others, we begin to merge back into one brilliant wave of pure light as, together, we return to our original state of enlightenment and Oneness.

Namaste!  (The light within me honors the light within you),

Sandra

Self-Evaluation of Seven Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life – Part 7 of 7: Trust in the Universe

This is the image of hands reaching out to the light

© STILLFX/shutterstock.com

Welcome to Part 7, the last of a 7 part series in which you are invited to become aware of the Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life!  Even more importantly, you are offered the opportunity to transform your self-limiting beliefs of separation and fear into self-empowering beliefs of oneness and unconditional love.

Our basic beliefs are the fundamental concepts we have formed about ourselves and the world around us, based on the mental input we have received throughout our lives. They are the underlying thought forms deep within our psyche that support all our views of life.  Our basic beliefs have a profound impact on the quality of our lives because they are the core of our personal values governing absolutely every perception we choose.

Many of our basic beliefs generate self-limiting thoughts because they are framed within our childhood perspectives, rooted in societal training, and do not reflect our whole self.

This week I invite you to become aware of your beliefs about your TRUST IN THE UNIVERSE.  Trusting in the universe is extremely essential in our spiritual evolution because it is our faith in the unknown that bridges our physical, third dimensional world of separation and the spiritual world of oneness.

Most of us are experiencing extremely challenging times in our lives right now.  We are experiencing turmoil in exactly the areas which, in the past, seemed to have provided us the most stability.  Many areas of our lives are feeling threatened, such as:  job security, personal relationships, positions of power, financial stability, and physical and mental health to name a few.  There seems to be a relentless hunger deep within us that cannot be satiated by the usual physical gratifications of food, money, power, sex, and fame.  It feels as though the very foundation of our security is vanishing!

If we are looking for our outer, material world to provide us with security and validation, we are most likely feeling disoriented, skeptical, and downright frightened about the radical changes we are feeling and seeing everywhere. While we may believe that the universe is taking things away from us, in truth, the universe is helping us to heal by removing the things in our lives that we have artificially depended on for our security.  As a result, we are compelled to look within our hearts and to trust in something greater than our material world to find our source of inspiration and regeneration. In essence, our egos are being dissolved to open the pathway to the realization of who we truly are on a soul level.

The following is a Self-Evaluation of Your Beliefs About Your Trust in the Universe.  As you scan through the questions, simply ask yourself, “Do I relate to the statements of separation, or do I relate to the statements of oneness?  The perceptions of separation correspond with fear and lock us into self-defeating behaviors, while the perceptions of oneness resonate with our spiritual truth of unconditional, universal love and open us to our greater potential.

It is best to trust your immediate, spontaneous responses to these questions.  When we analyze ourselves and deliberate over the answers, we run the risk of falling into the trap of self-judgment rather than pure awareness.

Remember, this evaluation is not an exercise in self-criticism, nor does it involve judgment of others.  It is merely a tool to shed the light of self-awareness on the foundation of beliefs upon which we base our view points of life.

BASIC BELIEF #7 – TRUST IN THE UNIVERSE

Do I believe that I am supported by a higher spiritual reality that transcends the realm of our physical world?

Separation:  Feeling that we are all separate from each other and from our outer existence;  viewing one’s human potential as being limited to the physical plane of existence; believing that what is apparent to one’s physical eyes is all there is to reality; believing something can only be real if proven by logical concepts.

Oneness:  Believing in a personal, spiritual connection with a divine field of universal love and light beyond our human, physical existence; trusting that the universe is unconditionally supportive.

Which statements do I most relate to – separation or oneness?

Where does this belief originate?  (i.e. parents, family culture, religion)

Is this my own personal truth now that I am an adult?

DO I CHOOSE TO CHANGE THIS BELIEF?

The following are affirmations to transform your perceptions of separation and fear into affirmations of oneness and unconditional love:

Feeling of Separation: There is no reality beyond this physical world.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am open to perceiving universal truth.

Feeling of Separation:  I am afraid to trust and let go.

Affirmation of Oneness:  As I trust and let go, I open myself to receiving love and universal guidance through my intuition.

Feeling of Separation:  I feel lonely.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am open to experiencing a connection with a higher spiritual reality.

Feeling of Separation:  I can’t depend on anybody.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I open myself to the benevolent abundance and support of the universe.

Feeling of Separation:  How can I believe in something I cannot perceive with my five senses?

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am open to expanding my perceptions.

Every single belief that you have stored into your brain is the result of constant repetition that has come from yourself – as well as from others.  YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR BELIEFS THROUGH THE PROCESS OF AFFIRMATIONS.  It does not matter whether you initially believe your affirmations.  Affirmations are a mental stretch moving toward spiritual truth.  With enough repetition, you will come to believe your affirmations of oneness.

Trusting in the universe means we choose to remember that, on a soul level, we are all connected with each other, and all that is, through a higher spiritual life force that is governing the universe through the energy of universal love. We each have access to the infinite potential and universal wisdom that is inherent within this field of creation.

While we cannot perceive this spiritual world with our five senses, we can all access it  through our intuition.  Our intuition is our spiritual GPS that is constantly guiding us to choose thoughts and beliefs that are aligned with spiritual truth.  It comes through to us with gut level feelings, flashes of imagination, dreams, and feelings of expansion and lightness.

As we TRUST THE UNIVERSE to provide us with this spiritual guidance, we discover that our authentic “security” is and always has been our direct soul connection with the love of Spirit.  Through this remembrance, we become empowered to work together to move beyond our present physical world of separation as we harmoniously work together to create a new reality of love, peace, health, joy, and abundance for everyone.

What a wonderful time to be here on our dear planet Earth!

I pray that you have enjoyed expanding your belief systems as much as I have enjoyed sharing the healing process with you. I encourage you to continue to consistently practice transforming your feelings of fear into affirmations of love. Aligning your basic beliefs with the truth of spirit is the basis for all healing.

Remember, no matter how confusing and murky this transformation process may feel, the loving guidance of the Universe is unconditionally available to us every moment of every day.  Our path to Oneness is already there for us – we need only open our hearts and minds to seeing it.

Love and Light

Sandra

Self-Evaluation of Seven Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life – Part 6 of 7: Openness to Change

Welcome to Part 6 of a 7 part series in which you are invited to become aware of the Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life!

Our basic beliefs have profound impact on the quality of our lives because they are the core of our personal values governing absolutely every perception we choose.

Many of our basic beliefs generate self-limiting thoughts because they are framed within our childhood perspectives, rooted in societal training, and do not reflect our whole self.

This week I invite you to become aware of your beliefs about your OPENNESS TO CHANGE.

One sure way to limit our potential is to resist the flow of change in our lives.  This is a very self-deluding perception because the process of change is the essence of life – we can proactively participate in it or we can just let it happen to us. Change tends to be something we want everyone else to do.  In truth, the only person we have the power to change is ourselves.

If we are resistant to change, life becomes a waiting game.  It is like hiding in a closet and waiting for a guarantee that everything will be forever safe outside before we agree to come out.  We tend to dance back and forth between feeling guilty about the past and frightened of the future, believing that it is either too soon or too late to change careers, move to a new area, buy a house, have children, or take a trip.  The one place in time in which we are absent is the only time that is real – the present.

The following is a Self-Evaluation of Your Beliefs About Your Being Open to Change.  As you scan through the questions, simply ask yourself, “Do I relate to the statements of Separation, or do I relate to the statements of Oneness?  The perceptions of separation correspond with fear and lock us into self-defeating behaviors, while the perceptions of Oneness resonate with our spiritual truth of unconditional universal love and open us to our greater potential.

BASIC BELIEF #6 – OPENNESS TO CHANGE

Am I flexible and willing to go with the constant flow of changes within my life?

Separation:  Resisting the flow of life; being stuck in the guilt of the past and the fear of the future; afraid to make decisions; trying to make life so secure so as to avoid having to face new challenges; waiting for changes to happen.

Oneness:  Greeting life with fluidity by choosing to be in the present; seeing life as a process of change and growth; having the courage to make decisions; being open to new opportunities and situations; going with the flow of life events.

Feeling of Separation: I am afraid to change.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am safe as I flow with the creative, loving energy of the universe.

Feeling of Separation:  How do I know what choices are “right” for me?

Affirmation of Oneness:  I know that every choice I make contributes to my growth and wholeness.

Feeling of Separation:  What if I make the “wrong” choices?

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am willing to express my genuine self.

Feeling of Separation:  I’ll wait until tomorrow.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I choose to be in present time.

Feeling of Separation:  I will just wait and let fate decide.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am aware of my inner power to choose perceptions that are aligned with universal love.

Remember:  Every single belief that you have stored into your brain is the result of constant repetition that has come from yourself – as well as from others.

Affirmations help us to develop the habit of consistent, positive self-dialogue.  By making a commitment to the ongoing practice of repeating affirmations of self-love, you have the power to transform your self-deprecating beliefs about yourself into self-respecting perceptions that reflect the truth of your Oneness with Spirit and universal love.

When we open our hearts and minds to accepting the inevitability of constant change, we are able to move into the infinite potential that only exists in the spiritual reality of present time.  When we are open to change, we are working in harmony with the laws of nature, and our lives begin to experience a synchronous flow of life’s blessings moving in and out of our lives.  A new life is awaiting you – are you ready to receive it?

I welcome any questions or insights you would like to share regarding your self-discovery process as you become conscious of your beliefs about your willingness to be open to change.

Love and Light

Sandra

Self-Evaluation of Seven Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life – Part 5 of 7: Commitment to Be Your True Self

Welcome to Part 5 of a 7 part series in which you are invited to become aware of the Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life!

This week I invite you to become aware of your beliefs about your COMMITMENT TO BE YOUR TRUE SELF.

“Commitment” is making a conscious choice to genuinely step into life by fully expressing your authentic self.  This sounds incredibly simple – “so all I have to do is just be who I am?”  The answer is a resounding “YES!”  So why do we spend so much time and effort side stepping, withholding,  and even avoiding openly contributing our unique gifts and talents with the world?  Most likely, it is because we are going in circles with perceptions that are filled with self-judgment. This results in an endless list of paralyzing rationalizations:  Perhaps we are saying that we are not good enough, not smart enough, not wealthy enough, not healthy enough, not young enough, and/or not attractive enough to come out into the light and be seen for the unique person we were born to be.

The bottom line is that when we do this, we are making an unconscious decision to wait until we are perfect before we pursue our passions and dreams of what we really want to do with our lives.  Demanding that we be perfect is a form of self-attack in which we focus on our flaws.  Withholding the expression of our true self is a behavior which causes us pain at every level because we are constantly in a state of contraction.

When we shift our perceptions to focus on our strengths, gifts, talents, and passions, we are focusing on our light within. We can then use our energy to express more of who we ARE, rather than who we ARE NOT.  This perspective creates a state of expansion because we are freeing ourselves to live from the core of our inner spiritual truth.  When our thoughts, words, and actions are based on our spiritual values, we then begin to attract people, opportunities, and resources that support our mission to share our genuine self with the world.

The following is a Self-Evaluation of Your Beliefs About Your Commitment to be Your True Self.

BASIC BELIEF #5 – COMMITMENT TO BE YOUR TRUE SELF

Am I committed to sharing the gift of who I am with the world by expressing my true self and my unique talents?

Separation:  Holding back on one’s creative potential and true expression of feelings; being emotionally armored; being a perfectionist; judging self harshly.

Oneness:  Having the courage to express one’s unique and authentic self; being open and honest; being willing to enthusiastically share the gift of one’s self with the world.

Feeling of Separation: I don’t even know who I am.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am an expression of universal light and love.

Feeling of Separation:  I don’t know how to express myself.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am spiritually guided to express my true self.

Feeling of Separation:  I am afraid to express my real feelings.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am willing to express my genuine self.

Feeling of Separation:  My creativity is blocked.

Affirmation of Oneness:  I am an open channel for receiving and expressing my divine creative energy.

Feeling of Separation:  I am afraid I will fail.

Affirmation of Oneness: I am completely supported by the universe when I express my truth.

Remember:  Every single belief that you have stored into your brain is the result of constant repetition that has come from yourself – as well as from others.

Simply stated, making a commitment to express your Genuine Self is your mission in life.  No one else in the world has your unique personality, physical structure, brain function, gifts, and talents.  Each one of us is a vital piece in the puzzle of the wholeness of humanity.  What could be more important?

I welcome any questions or insights you would like to share regarding your self-discovery process as you become conscious of your beliefs about your commitment to being your true self.

Self-Evaluation of Seven Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life – Part 4 of 7: Inner Power

Welcome to Part 4 of a 7 part series in which you are invited to become aware of the Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life!

This week I invite you to become aware of your beliefs about your INNER POWER. “Power” is a word that generates unease within many of us. This is because when we think of “power,” we typically think of “power over,” not “power within.” If we are stuck in the “power over” belief system, we are subscribing to the illusion that we can control others or that others can control us. Depending on our personalities, we may be acting out the aggressive side of this belief system in subtle ways, such as criticism and judgment or, more aggressively, through overt attack and intimidation. If we are acting out the passive side of the “power over” model, we may tend to withhold our affection, attention, or approval of people in an attempt to get them to act in ways that conform with our expectations. Holding the belief that power means we have control over others is a perception of separation and fear that is bound to perpetuate many choices that are hurtful to ourselves and others.

Inner power, on the other hand, is the creative energy of universal love that is seated within the heart of every human being. While we each have a human body, we also have a personal soul connection to the energy of Spirit, which is unconditional, formless, unlimited infinite potential. Every one of us has the capability of tapping into this universal field of love every moment of every day through meditation, prayer, and mindfully choosing perceptions of love and oneness throughout our everyday lives. Remembering that we each have access to the oneness of spirit is extremely self-empowering because it provides us with an indomitable sense of inner stability regardless of outward circumstances.

The following is a Self-Evaluation of Your Beliefs About Your Inner Power.

BASIC BELIEF #4 – INNER POWER

Do I believe that I have the power to create changes within my life, based on the perceptions I choose?

Separation: Believing that one does not have the power to choose personal perceptions and that thoughts and actions have no energy or impact on anyone; or believing one has the power to change other people.

Oneness: Having awareness and profound respect for one’s ability to direct divine energy through the power of thought; believing in personal inner power to create changes within one’s personal reality.

Feeling of Separation: Life’s a game – I’ve got to stay on top.
Affirmation of Oneness: I choose treat myself and others with kindness and respect.

Feeling of Separation: I am telling you this for your own good.
Affirmation of Oneness: I choose to help others by being a compassionate listener and setting a good example with my own life.

Feeling of Separation: I’ll tell you what’s wrong with you . . .
Affirmation of Oneness: I am open to seeing the spiritual goodness in all people.

Feeling of Separation: I want you to change.
Affirmation of Oneness: I am aware that the only person I have the power to change is myself.

Feeling of Separation: You should . . .
Affirmation of Oneness: I choose to release all judgment and criticism of myself and others.

Remember: Every single belief that you have stored into your brain is the result of constant repetition that has come from yourself – as well as from others. YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR BELIEFS THROUGH THE PROCESS OF AFFIRMATIONS. It does not matter whether you initially believe your affirmations. Affirmations are a mental stretch moving toward spiritual truth. By making a commitment to the ongoing practice of repeating affirmations of self-love, you have the power to transform your self-deprecating beliefs about yourself into self-respecting perceptions that reflect the truth of your oneness with spirit and universal love.

Keep practicing – you have the power to heal your life!

Self Evaluation of Seven Basic Beliefs Underlying Your Perceptions of Life – Part 3 of 7: Attitude

Welcome to Part 3 of a 7 part series in which you are invited to become aware of the basic beliefs underlying your perceptions of life!

This week I invite you to become aware of your beliefs about your ATITUDE. Your attitude is the lens through which you view everyone and everything in your life. Many people say that if there is divine pre-destination in life, what does it matter what choices we make? The answer is that even though we do not get to humanly choose every situation and circumstance that we encounter in life, the quality of our life journey depends on whatever attitude we choose.

We can choose to be pessimistic and concentrate on everything that is “wrong” in our lives which, given this perspective, is potentially everything. When we make it a habit to anticipate resistance in everything we do, we are very likely to encounter the very difficulties we imagined. In fact, if we choose to primarily focus on our problems, we can be sure our bleak philosophy of life will be consistently validated because we will attract people and situations that resonate with our negative thinking.

We can also choose to manage the infinite number of challenges we encounter with a positive attitude. Scientific studies consistently indicate that our stress levels are a reflection of how we choose to perceive a problem, not the problem within itself. When we are positive, we move out of the polarity of judging ourselves and our situations as “good and bad” and “right or wrong,” and choose, instead, to see every challenge as an opportunity to become more whole. Adopting an optimistic perspective is not a naïve behavior. In fact, it requires a great deal of emotional maturity to see the value of everyone and everything you encounter in life.

The following is a self-evaluation of our beliefs about your attitude.

BASIC BELIEF #3 – ATTITUDE

What is my outlook on life in general?

Separation: Having a negative attitude; expecting the worst; viewing life as a difficult “win/lose” competitive event; feeling life has to be hard; a survival attitude.

Oneness: Having a positive attitude rooted in spiritual strength; leaving space for optimistic outcomes; seeing life as a process of learning and growth; viewing life with imagination and enthusiasm.

Feeling of Separation: Life is an endless struggle.

Affirmation of Oneness: I take responsibility for the perceptions I choose and how they affect my life.

Feeling of Separation: It will never work.

Affirmation of Oneness: I am open to success and positive outcomes.

Feeling of Separation: The world is a rotten place.

Affirmation of Oneness: I choose to see divine will and goodness in all things.

Feeling of Separation: I have to fight to get what I want.

Affirmation of Oneness: I choose to experience peace and harmony in my life.

Feeling of Separation: I can’t do it.

Affirmation of Oneness: I choose to believe that anything is possible.

How Can We Forgive People Who Have Hurt Us Deeply? PART ONE

This is the image of a gold and sparkle outline of a heart on a black background

Sometimes the words and actions of people who have hurt you may feel so vicious that the thought of forgiving them seems like an impossible human feat.  No matter how hard you try, you may feel that you cannot reconcile your feelings about them, nor understand how anyone could act in such unkind ways. It is only human to feel angered and upset when we are on the receiving end of someone’s cruel words and actions.  What is self-destructive is not that we have these feelings – it is that we hold onto them.  Most of us tend to hold the illusion that forgiveness is something that we are being asked to give to an undeserving person, so one of the best ways to prepare yourself to be a forgiving person is to see forgiveness in a more truthful light.

Forgiveness always begins with self.

Believe it or not, the person you most need to forgive for any situation in which you have been hurt is yourself – not because you are “wrong,” but because you have made choices which have not been aligned with your soul’s need for inner truth and self-respect. By forgiving yourself, it becomes easier to forgive others and to move out of the victimhood perception.  It’s all part of our spiritual growth.

Forgiving someone does not mean you are endorsing

anyone’s harmful behavior.

You may find it very liberating to realize that you do not need to feel warmly toward people who have hurt you, nor do you need to understand their actions, in order to forgive. You may even make a healthy decision that it is not in your best interest to be in the physical presence of people who have hurt you deeply.

The way people act is a reflection of how they feel about themselves,

NOT YOU!

When someone behaves in a harmful, manipulative way, it is very important to understand that they are projecting from THEIR reservoir of fears.  The way they are treating you is exactly the way they feel about themselves.  This is why self-love is so essential in that it forms the foundation for how we treat everyone around us.  When we focus on someone else’s negative behavior by responding the same way, we compound the problem by reinforcing their fears and our own.  We then step into the darkness of the other person’s world of fear, rather than bringing illumination to the situation.  Instead of inviting the other person to our space of peace, we hurt ourselves by stepping into their chaos.

We learn and grow from our relationships.

No matter how angry we may feel toward someone, there are no accidents; there is a reason for every single interaction we have with anyone, whether pleasant or not.  They are teaching us, and we are teaching them.  We can perceive even our most painful experiences as growth opportunities by asking ourselves, “What am I experiencing through this person that I need to learn?”  The things that irritate us about someone else are a reflection of something we need to see within ourselves in order to mature in our spirituality.  We may realize that this person is reminding us our need to develop more self-esteem or exposing our own need to be more patient and forgiving. It could also be that we recognize that what this person is doing that is causing us pain is the same thing we have to someone else in the past.  The important thing is that when we view our relationship issues in this way, we are learning from, rather than judging the other person.

When you withhold forgiveness, you are likely to repeat

negative relationship patterns.

When you withhold forgiveness and choose to ignore the messages that are coming to you in the form of relationships, the universe will continue to present you with people and circumstances based on the same theme until you become aware of what you need to know.  It is as though you are in a play and the same actor exits and comes back on stage again wearing a new outfit.  Once you accept the lessons you are learning through your relationships, you are likely to free yourself from living through the same painful emotional patterns over and over again.

When you forgive someone,
you no longer allow them to control your life.

If you are holding back on forgiving someone, chances are you are making them the center of your attention.  This means that you continue to re-experience the self-damaging emotions of pain, anger, and resentment every time you think of that person, which is probably most of the time.  Why give anyone that kind of power over your life?  Take back your power to live your life with all the potential that exists in present time.

Forgiveness is a form of neutral, unconditional love.

Forgiveness is not a warm, fuzzy emotion.  It is a neutral, compassionate emotion that acknowledges that we are all connected as one human family.  When you choose to forgive someone, you are acknowledging that every single person on earth, no matter who they are or how they conduct themselves, is part of humanity and, therefore, a part of who you are.  In other words, you stop focusing on the objectionable physical actions of others by looking at a soul level, beneath their negative behavior.

The bottom line is that forgiveness is something we do for OURSELVES!  It is the most effective way we can free ourselves from self-defeating old patterns from the past and step into the infinite potential that we can only discover in present time.  When we do this, we are blessing ourselves and everyone in our lives by placing a greater priority on love and inner peace than on revenge and self-righteousness.

In next week’s blog, Part 2, we will discuss a simple exercise that will empower you to make forgiveness a part of your daily life.
